Manuel Angelico e Isaias Jimenez
This stunning figure, in the purest style of Don Manuel Jimenez, who recently passed away, is very
similar to the one featured on the cover of the book Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art.
“El Divino”, “The Divine”, is considered the initiator of the great Oaxacan woodcarving
boom. He leaves an impressive artistic legacy as well as a path that is being followed by many woodcarving families.
We acquired this beautiful piece, made of cedar wood, in November 2004 directly from Don Manuel.
His work is featured in many art books, magazines and is included in Museums and private collections world wide.
