Isidoro Cruz
"Rabbit Dreaming About His Death"

Isidoro Cruz is a living legend of Oaxaca. He started woodcarving at a very young age, creating masks for the carnivals. His art has evolved in such a way that his masks in particular are in museums and private collections around the world.

Isidoro carves pieces of a profound mystical symbolism such as death and religion. This truly impressive mask is in itself a complete iconographic account of a rabbit's most terrifying nightmare.

The carving is impressive and forceful and at the same time it posses a non-trivial beauty.
